Ever since I can remember, I have always hated the way I looked. I hated the physical appearance my weight brought upon me. I hated how uncomfortable I felt when I had to take my shirt off to take a dip in the pool. But now I am at a point in my life where I can say that I no longer hate the way I look.
All I ever wanted growing up was to look slimmer just like everyone else my age. I would always envy the kids that could eat whatever they wanted and not gain a single pound. Once I got to high school I started to stretch out and I got some what thinner - although I still was not at the weight I desired. Later in my junior year I got a trainer at InShape but I saw very minimal results and I still was not happy with my weight. I felt that my trainer was in it for the money rather than actually helping me lose weight. So I dropped my trainer and just started going to the gym on my own.
After I graduated high school I stopped going to the gym completely. I would always make up excuse as to why I couldn’t go like “oh I have too much homework” or “I just don’t have the time”. I started gaining weight immensely. I went from a size Medium to an Extra large. After finally being in denial about gaining weight I decided to join my mom in a session at Body Effect (BE for short). That one session changed my entire perspective on going to the gym.
Coming to BE is not only beneficial for my health but it is something that I truly enjoy doing. Body Effect is not just about working out, it’s about building strength and setting goals that can be accomplished. Ever since I joined BE I have lost a lot of weight.
Over the past three monthsI have lost about 20 pounds. I’m now down to a size large in my shirts.
Losing weight has shown me that as long as you stick to a plan you can accomplish your goals. I have also noticed that my strength and endurance has improved greatly ever since I started. At my old gym I would never really lift weights because I was too intimidated by all of the muscle heads that went there (aka the guys that live, eat, and breath protein).
At BE no one judges each other, because we are all here to better ourselves. The people here are really great, they have become a support system that I can rely on. And Adam and Adrian are okay I guess...nah I’m just kidding they cool LOL.
Joining Body Effect has been one of the best decisions I have ever made.
